Kristin Maddox

Kristin grew up in Thunder Bay, where she developed a deep love for people, family, the wilderness, and outdoor sports. It is this love that has led her around the world, inspired a 10 year career in outdoor low-impact expedition leadership, 20 years of coaching sports, fueled many adventures & life long friendships, and brought her here to settle in Squamish.

Massage came naturally and she was often recruited to give massages to friends, family and teammates. It wasn't until she looked at settling down that she decided to undertake the 3 year RMT program. Kristin graduated with honours from Okanagan Valley College ofMassage Therapy in 2007, receiving the Massage Therapy Program Performance Award for exceptional practical and academic achievement.

Kristin is passionate about deep listening to the body, empowering the individual with knowlege, and facilitating the unwinding process with the most effective pressure for the situation. She integrates a broad education base, logic, intuition, deep listening, technical assessment skills (including orthopedic testing, gait analysis & biomechanics), and therapeutic expercises. She looks at a problem from multiple directions, sourcing out the most effective course of treatment for the individual. All clients including those with complex cases are welcomed.

A bit of a renaissance woman, Kristin has pursued many interests including many forms of dance, poetry, music and song writing. She enjoys a wealth of outdoor sports such as rock climbing, sea kayaking, canoe tripping, mountain biking, bike touring, trail running, XC and alpine skiing, equestrian, and most recently is trying her hand at surfing.  Fortunate to grow up with horses she became a focused young rider and trainer, beginning her equestrian career at 16. Along with equestrian coaching and training, she is also certified in equine massage. Some of her fondest achievements are: working with Jody Hartstone (NZ National Equestrian Team) and Donnerwind in 2008 in preparation for Bejing Olympics, creating and performing the climbing/dance/theatre production 'Entelechy' in 2004,  and being the founding member of the La Nina Sea Kayak Expedition, the first all women's expedition to paddle the outside passage from Alaska to Vancouver in 1998.

She is looking forward to meeting new clients and settling into the community of Squamish.
